Been trying out different dating apps lately and honestly it's wild how many options are out there now. Like, there are literally thousands of these things. Started with Tinder because everyone knows it, and yeah the swiping thing is addictive but the profiles feel kinda shallow? Just photos and a bio basically.

Then I tried Bumble and the whole "women message first" thing is actually interesting. Gives you a different vibe, less creepy messages. The video chat without exchanging numbers is pretty smart for safety. Only downside is the 24-hour match window feels rushed.

For anyone looking for something more serious, Hinge seems solid. It's less about swiping and more about actual conversation starters. The video prompts are kinda fun too, though I'll admit I'm not doing my "best celebrity impression" on camera anytime soon lol.

OkCupid surprised me with the compatibility percentage thing. Takes some of the guesswork out. And they've got a ton of gender and sexuality options which is cool. HER is specifically built for queer folks and it shows in how thoughtful the features are.

Price-wise, most of these apps want like $20-40 a month for premium features, which is... a lot? But they all have free versions that actually work okay if you're patient. If you're specifically looking for something that's good for asian dating communities, definitely check out what each app offers in terms of filtering by interests and location—some of the newer features are actually pretty inclusive.

The thing nobody tells you is that the app itself is only half the battle. Your profile matters way more than you think. Fill it out honestly, use real photos, and actually write something that shows your personality. And yeah, like 60% of people have positive experiences with these things according to research, so it's not totally hopeless.
