Just realized something kinda wild - I've been carrying around regular bills my whole life without knowing some of them could actually be worth serious money. Like, we're talking about $100 bills and $2 notes that collectors are willing to pay way more than face value for.

So apparently if you've got older bills from certain series, especially ones with specific printing errors or unique serial numbers, you might be sitting on something valuable. I started digging into this after finding an old $2 bill in my drawer. Turns out the 1928 series ones with red seals can go for anywhere from a few bucks to like $175 if they're in decent shape. And if you somehow have an uncirculated one? That's when prices get crazy - we're talking thousands.

The $50 bills are interesting too. Those 1934 series notes or the ones from 1929 with the brown seal can fetch $65 to $100 from collectors if they're in good condition. Even more recent ones like the 1985 star notes can be worth $60 to nearly $400 depending on whether they've been circulated.

But here's where it gets really interesting - the valuable $100 bills. Some of the rarer printings from different years are apparently worth way more than a hundred. I read about the 1966 red seal series going for $135 to $169, and certain 2009A series bills with unique markings can hit over $1,000. The 1996 star notes in this denomination can range from face value to like $350.

The key thing is condition and whether they have star notes (those have a star in the serial number). Also, errors and unusual serial numbers make them more collectible. I'm definitely gonna start checking my bills more carefully now. Probably won't find anything crazy, but you never know what's just sitting in your wallet. Anyone else ever found anything like this?
