South Carolina utility deal projects $2.3B in customer savings

Duke Energy has received approval from the South Carolina Public Service Commission to combine its two utility subsidiaries, Duke Energy Carolinas and Duke Energy Progress. This merger is projected to generate approximately $2.3 billion in net customer savings between 2027 and 2040, underpinned by guaranteed savings commitment. The deal aims to streamline operations and ensure long-term cost reductions for customers, although approval from North Carolina is still pending.
