CryptoWorld News reports that the U.S. Senate rejected President Trump's war powers resolution before the 60-day deadline. This is the sixth time the Democrats have attempted to limit Trump's authority to wage war against Iran. On Thursday, a procedural vote proposed by California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff was defeated with 47 votes in favor and 50 votes against. The resolution originally would have directed the president to withdraw U.S. military forces from hostilities with Iran. According to the War Powers Resolution of 1973, if Congress does not authorize the war, the president must withdraw the armed forces after 60 days. Trump notified Congress of hostilities with Iran in a letter on March 2, meaning the 60-day period will end on May 1. The president can extend the deadline by 30 days to facilitate a withdrawal.
