Just looked into getting a 1 million life insurance policy and honestly? It's way cheaper than I thought it would be. Like, if you're in your 30s and decent health, you're looking at maybe $800-900 a year for solid coverage. That's actually doable.
The whole thing depends on age, health, and what type of policy you go for. Term life is the budget option - coverage runs out eventually but premiums stay low. Whole life is permanent and builds cash value, but yeah, that gets expensive fast. Most people probably stick with term anyway.
I was trying to figure out if a 1 million life insurance policy even makes sense for someone like me. The general advice is 10x your income plus enough to cover debts. So if you make 80k and have a 200k mortgage? Yeah, that 1 million policy tracks.
The annoying part is shopping around. Apparently different companies quote way different prices for the same coverage. So if you're actually going to get a 1 million life insurance policy, don't just grab the first quote. Seems like it pays to compare.
Age definitely matters though. A 30-year-old guy pays less than someone at 40. And if you've got health stuff going on, prepare for higher premiums. But if you can fix something like weight issues before applying, that apparently helps.
Anyone else been looking into this? Curious what people are actually paying.
