Just looked into CLEAR pricing because I fly like 6-8 times a year and honestly the security lines are killing me. So here's the deal - CLEAR Plus runs $189 a year which sounds like a lot until you break it down. That's basically $16 a month or like $5 per round trip if you're traveling frequently. But here's where it gets interesting - if you have certain airline loyalty status or the right credit card, the pricing drops significantly. Delta Medallion members pay like $109, and Diamond status gets it free. United Premier members get similar deals. American Express Platinum literally credits back the full $189 so it's basically free if you have that card. The catch? CLEAR pricing only makes sense if you actually use it. Those airports with CLEAR are around 45 right now, so you need to check if your home airport has it. Also it's way different from TSA PreCheck - CLEAR actually lets you skip the whole line entirely with a fingerprint scan, while PreCheck just gets you a faster lane. For someone like me who travels every month or two, the pricing feels worth it especially if I can stack it with my airline benefits. But if you're only flying 2-3 times a year? Yeah probably not. The real question is whether your airports even have it and if you can grab a discount through a credit card or loyalty program. Otherwise you're basically paying premium pricing for a convenience that might not save you that much time. What's your travel frequency looking like?
