Just caught Broadcom's latest earnings and honestly, the AI momentum story just got even more compelling. CEO Hock Tan basically confirmed what everyone's been betting on - AI demand isn't slowing down, it's accelerating.
So here's what happened: Q1 revenue came in at $19.3 billion, up 29% year-over-year. That's not just beating expectations, that's crushing them. Analysts were looking for $19.14 billion, so Broadcom cleared that bar with ease. Adjusted EPS hit $2.05 versus the $2.02 consensus estimate.
But the real story is in the AI numbers. AI-based revenue surged 106% year-over-year to hit $8.4 billion. We're talking about 12 consecutive quarters of AI-centric growth. That's not a blip - that's a sustained trend. Tan specifically highlighted continued strength in AI semiconductor solutions, with robust demand for custom AI accelerators and AI networking driving the acceleration.
What's wild is the forward guidance. Tan is calling for Q2 revenue of $22 billion, representing 47% growth compared to last year. That's way ahead of the $20.4 billion consensus. And for AI specifically, he's projecting 140% growth to $10.7 billion in the next quarter. Looking further out, Tan's now guiding for $100 billion in AI chip revenue for 2027. That's the kind of visibility that suggests this isn't hype.
The cash story is solid too. Operating cash flow hit $8.26 billion with free cash flow at $8 billion - that's 41% of revenue. The board just approved a new $10 billion share repurchase program through the end of 2026, and they're maintaining the quarterly dividend at $0.65.
What caught my attention is the valuation. Despite all this accelerating growth, the stock is trading at just 30 times forward earnings and 22 times next year's expected earnings. For a company delivering this kind of AI-driven momentum, that feels like reasonable entry pricing. The stock's already up 69% over the past year, but if Tan's projections hold, there could be more runway here. Worth keeping on your radar if you're tracking the AI infrastructure play.
