Been looking into ways to actually make cash without starting from scratch? Turns out there's a ton of low-effort side gigs using stuff you already have lying around.

First thing that comes to mind is just clearing out your closet. Luxury items especially - I've seen people flip designer bags for $100+ on Poshmark or Mercari if they're in decent shape. Even basic jeans and jackets go for $20 depending on the brand. Facebook Marketplace works too if you've got furniture or electronics taking up space. One person mentioned selling a couch and chairs for around $1,000, but obviously condition matters.

If you've got extra space at home, that's probably the biggest money maker. Renting out a spare bedroom can hit $100-200 a night, similar to hotel rates. Some people are doing way more though - Airbnb hosts were averaging around $14k extra in 2022, and more recent numbers show hosts pulling in $44k annually in 2025. You don't even need a full tenant either. Garage parking, attic storage, even renting your backyard for photo shoots are options.

Car rental through Turo is solid if you're near an airport. People earn $30-80 per day depending on the vehicle, averaging around $900 monthly. For smaller stuff, renting out tools and equipment to neighbors is lower risk - camera gear can bring $25-100 daily, recreational stuff like kayaks or snowboards around $20 per hour.

The whole thing is pretty flexible honestly. What you make depends on what you actually have and where you live, but these easy side gigs are definitely worth exploring if you need some extra income without the commitment of a full second job.
