Just realized with all this tariff talk, maybe I should actually think about what to stock up on before prices get crazy. Been reading about people prepping their pantries and it's not just about paranoia—it's legit smart if supply chains get messy.

So I'm looking at the basics: rice is stupid cheap and lasts forever if you store it right. White rice especially—can keep it for years in a container. Beans too, same deal. Protein, fills you up, doesn't cost much. If you're stocking up on these staples, you're basically set for months.

Canned stuff is obvious but people forget—soups, veggies, chicken, all that. Just don't put them in the freezer, keep them in a cool cabinet. Meat if you have freezer space, though red meat lasts longer than ground. Nuts, coffee, even chocolate technically has a decent shelf life.

Not saying we're heading for the apocalypse or anything, but honestly, stocking up on non-perishables when they're available just makes sense? Worst case you eat through your pantry in a few months anyway. Better than getting caught off guard if things actually get tight.
