Just went through some salary data and the regional differences are wild. Like, the average income today varies so much depending on where you live and your age group. I noticed Gen X is pulling in the highest numbers overall, but Mississippi is basically the outlier - everyone there from millennials to boomers is earning way less than other states. Meanwhile, places like California, Massachusetts, and Connecticut are crushing it, especially for people in their peak earning years (45-64 range). The data also shows Gen Z starting out pretty rough in most states, with West Virginia being particularly rough for younger workers. What's interesting is Hawaii - boomers there are earning the most compared to other states, which is kind of surprising. The whole thing really shows how much your paycheck depends on geography, not just how long you've been working. Makes you wonder if it's worth relocating for that income bump or if cost of living eats it all anyway.
