Just saw that Hitachi landed a massive 481 million euro contract to build fully automated metro trains for Turin. Pretty wild - they're handling the whole thing for Line 2, including the trains and signalling system. The crazy part? These trains will be completely driverless. Like full GoA4 automation where everything from starting to stopping to opening doors happens automatically.

Each train can fit 404 passengers total and they're using this advanced CBTC signalling system that basically lets the trains run themselves. Hitachi's also putting their HMAX tech on these - it's this AI-powered system that monitors train health in real time. They've already got it on over 2,000 trains worldwide.

The whole Line 2 will be about 28km with 31 stations once it's done, and they're aiming to open the first section by 2033. All the trains are being made in Italy too. Pretty impressive infrastructure project - the kind of thing that shows where public transit is heading with full automation and digital systems.
