【Bank Indonesia Announces Interoperability of QR Code Payments with China】

On April 30, the Bank of Indonesia (Indonesia’s central bank) announced that Indonesia’s QRIS-standard payment system has achieved interoperability with China’s QR code payment system. Consumers in both countries can complete payments by scanning QR codes through the payment platforms they commonly use in most cross-border retail scenarios.
On the same day, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo said that QR code payment interoperability is an important achievement in financial cooperation between Indonesia and China. “Whether Indonesian people travel to China or Chinese tourists come to Indonesia, they can complete payments with their mobile phones in relevant scenarios.”
