just fell down this rabbit hole about what the most valuable thing in the world actually is and honestly it's wild. so apparently there's this yacht called History Supreme that costs 4.5 billion dollars. like, that's more than some countries' budgets. it's covered in gold and platinum everywhere - the railings, the deck, literally everything. and it's not even the biggest yacht out there lol, just the most ridiculously expensive one.
what got me is how random some of these expensive items are. like someone paid 8 million for a dead shark in formaldehyde. a SHARK. Damien Hirst created it back in 1991 and apparently that's considered fine art now. then you've got paintings going for 275 million, diamonds for 23 million, and Jeff Bezos just casually buying a 165 million dollar house in Beverly Hills like it's nothing. the man also has a 42 million dollar clock designed to run for 10,000 years which is honestly kind of funny.
the craziest part? a lot of these things aren't even functional or useful. you can't really use a preserved shark or hang a 275 million dollar painting in your living room without worrying about it. but i guess when you have that much money, the most valuable thing in the world isn't about usefulness anymore - it's just about owning something nobody else can. makes you think about what wealth actually means, you know?
