Just realized you don't actually need a bank account to cash a check? Like, I always thought that was a requirement but apparently most banks will do it for noncustomers. The issuing bank is your best bet, but even other banks might work if they can verify the funds are there.



Beyond banks though, there's a ton of options - Walmart, grocery stores, gas stations, even some check-cashing apps now. Obviously watch out for fees since they vary everywhere. If you're doing it online, mobile deposit through an app or loading onto a prepaid card are pretty convenient too.

So yeah, do you need a bank account to cash a check? Nope. Just bring your ID and call ahead to check their limits and fees. Makes things way easier if you're between banks or just don't have one.
