Just been looking at some solid opportunities that popped up after this week's market turbulence. The pullback actually created some interesting entry points, especially in a few blue-chip names that got caught in the broader sell-off.
Start with Deere & Co. What's fascinating about this one is how they're approaching AI differently than your typical software company. They're not just talking about it—they're actually building it into their core business. Autonomous tractors, AI cameras for precision agriculture, predictive maintenance systems. The stock's up 35% this year, but here's the thing: it still dropped 5% last week on tariff concerns. Even with that pullback, the valuation sits at a P/E of 34, which is steep, but when you consider the competitive moat they have with farmers and how they're integrating technology into their equipment, it starts to make sense.
Then there's GE Vernova. Energy demand is about to explode thanks to AI data centers needing massive power infrastructure. GE Vernova's positioned right in the middle of that trend—turbines across gas, nuclear, hydro, wind. Up 34% already, trading at a P/E of 50. Yeah, it's pricey, but it's one of the few blue-chip plays that directly benefits from the AI infrastructure build-out. Only been public since 2024, but the assets and track record run deep through the old GE conglomerate.
Microsoft's the most interesting to me right now. Down nearly 30% from recent highs, which is brutal, but the narrative around AI disruption in software feels overdone when you look at what they actually have. Azure's growing fast, they've got 27% of OpenAI, plus Windows, gaming, LinkedIn. The business is way more diversified than people remember. P/E fell to 24.5, making it cheaper than the S&P 500 and one of the cheapest in the Magnificent Seven. That's a blue-chip name trading at a genuine discount.
Market pullbacks hurt in the moment, but they're exactly when quality blue-chip companies become worth considering. All three of these have real catalysts and aren't just riding hype.
