Just found out my dog can actually have watermelon and I'm kinda mind blown? Like it's mostly water so it's perfect for keeping them hydrated in summer heat. Plus vitamins and stuff that's actually good for them.
But here's the thing—you gotta be careful about what part you give them. Can dogs have watermelon rinds? Nope, definitely not. Same with seeds. Both can mess with their digestion or even cause blockages which sounds pretty scary honestly. So you basically gotta cut out all that stuff first and just give them the flesh in small pieces.
I'm thinking of freezing some chunks for my pup on hot days since that's supposed to be a good cooling trick. Just gonna make sure everything is seed and rind-free before I do it. Maybe start with just a couple pieces to see how they react too.
Anyone else give their dogs watermelon? How much do you usually do?
