Been looking into some solid career paths that don't require a traditional four-year degree, and honestly the earning potential is pretty wild. You can actually make well over $70k with just an associate degree, and some roles push into six figures. Here's what stood out to me.

The healthcare field is absolutely loaded with these opportunities. Radiation therapists are pulling in around $98k, nuclear medicine technologists hit $92.5k, and dental hygienists can reach $87.5k. Even diagnostic medical sonographers and respiratory therapists are making $80k+. The thing about these healthcare roles is they're growing in demand too, so job security looks solid.

Then there's the aviation side. Air traffic controllers are the top earners on this list at $137k, which honestly surprised me. Aerospace technicians, aircraft mechanics, and avionics equipment techs are all in the $75-78k range. These aren't glamorous jobs, but the pay is consistent and the work is stable.

What I found interesting is that most of these positions do require some form of certification or licensing on top of the associate degree. Air traffic controllers need FAA training, radiation therapists need national certification, dental hygienists need state licensing. But it's still way faster and cheaper than a bachelor's program.

The real key seems to be finding associate degree programs that are actually accredited and recognized in your field. And honestly, once you're in the door with solid experience and reputation, that matters way more than having a fancy degree on paper. If you're looking at career options and want to skip the student debt trap, these roles are worth researching.
