Andre Cronje said most DeFi protocols no longer meet a strict decentralized standard, after recent attacks involving about $280 million and $293 million widened concern over protocol security design. Andre Cronje said many protocols now depend on upgradeable contracts, multi-signature permissions, off-chain infrastructure, and manual operations. Flying Tulip introduced circuit breakers that can delay or queue withdrawals for about six hours during abnormal outflows, while Michael Egorov warned that such controls can create new centralized attack surfaces.
