PayPal announces strategic restructuring, with crypto business spun off into an independent department
Deep Tide TechFlow News, April 30th, according to official PayPal disclosures, PayPal announced a strategic restructuring on April 29, 2026, consolidating its business into three main segments: checkout solutions and PayPal, consumer financial services and Venmo, and payment services and cryptocurrencies. The cryptocurrency segment will integrate Braintree, small business payment processing, and the stablecoin PYUSD, among other businesses.
At the executive level, Frank Keller will serve as President of Checkout Solutions and PayPal Business, while Jeff Pomeroy will serve as interim head of Payment Services and Cryptocurrency Business; consumer business head Diego Scotti and small business and financial services head Michelle Gill will respectively leave the company.
The company will further disclose details of the new operational model during the earnings call on May 5.
