US media: Trump will receive a briefing on new plans for Iran actions on Thursday, including forceful strikes and partial control of the Strait of Hormuz
BlockBeats News, April 30 — Two sources familiar with the matter said that Trump plans to hear a briefing from U.S. Central Command Commander Brad Cooper on Thursday, regarding new plans for potential military actions against Iran. The briefing indicates that Trump is seriously considering resuming large-scale military operations to break the deadlock in negotiations or to deliver a decisive strike before ending the war.
Three sources said that Central Command has prepared a plan for a “short and intense” strike against Iran, which may include targeting infrastructure targets. The expectation is that Iran will then show greater flexibility on nuclear issues and return to the negotiating table. Another plan expected to be presented to Trump is to control parts of the Strait of Hormuz to restore commercial shipping traffic. One source said such actions could include ground forces. Another option, previously discussed and possibly included in the briefing, is to conduct special forces operations to ensure control over Iran’s high-enriched uranium reserves.
Cooper gave a similar briefing to Trump on February 26, and two days later, the U.S. and Israel launched a war against Iran. A person close to Trump said that it was that briefing that led to Trump’s decision to go to war. (Jin10)
