"Meta is dead and miserable again."

This is an anonymous post on Blind made by a Meta employee after the company announced layoffs.
Since the end of 2025, the proportion of negative posts about Meta's AI topics on Blind has increased to 83%, whereas in 2024, it was only 20%.
On May 20th, Meta planned to lay off 8,000 people (10% of the total employees), while cutting 6,000 open positions, with the saved money to be used for AI.
Meta's AI budget this year is between $115 billion and $135 billion, nearly doubling from $72.2 billion in 2025.
In an internal memo sent to employees, Meta attributed the layoffs to the company's "ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and offset other investments we are making."
Although the memo did not explicitly state that artificial intelligence was the reason for the layoffs, at least on Blind, employees clearly feel they are being replaced rather than innovating.
