Anthropic considers a new round of funding, with a valuation exceeding $900 billion, surpassing OpenAI

According to Beating Monitoring, Anthropic is considering a new round of financing with a valuation of more than $900 billion. If the deal goes through, Anthropic will surpass OpenAI, which just completed a funding round in March at a valuation of $852 billion, becoming the AI startup with the highest valuation in the world.

Several insiders say that investors have already made offers to Anthropic that are more than double its current valuation. Negotiations are still at a very early stage, and Anthropic has not accepted any offers yet. Previously, Anthropic has repeatedly rejected equity investment proposals at valuations of $800 billion and above.

Anthropic’s current valuation is $350 billion, anchored by two major investments from Google and Amazon. Google has recently pledged to invest $10 billion at that valuation, with an additional $30 billion if Anthropic meets certain performance targets. Amazon invested $5 billion at the same valuation and plans to add an additional $20 billion later. It is still unclear whether these two companies will participate in the new round of financing. Anthropic is also considering an IPO as early as October.
