On April 30, Federal Reserve Chairman Powell stated that high inflation partially reflects rising energy prices. The current policy stance is appropriate. Events in the Middle East have increased uncertainty. There are risks to both aspects of the dual mandate. Consumer spending remains resilient. Labor demand has weakened.
