Fed Chair Powell: We Will Signal If Rate Hikes Are Needed

On April 30, Federal Reserve Chair Powell stated that if rate hikes are necessary, we will certainly signal that; currently, no one is calling for a rate hike, and if a rate cut is appropriate, we will also signal that. We believe the current policy stance is very suitable for waiting, and perhaps a moderately restrictive position is appropriate. There has been a lack of broad support for making significant adjustments to the dot plot.
