Crypto news, JPMorgan's new head of blockchain Oliver Harris warns that tokenization does not equal liquidity.

He states that relying solely on tokenization cannot solve core financial challenges, and putting assets on the chain does not automatically make them easier to trade.
Harris mentioned in a discussion at last year's Consensus Toronto that his focus will be on expanding digital settlement infrastructure, advancing tokenization capabilities, and strengthening collaboration between public and private blockchain networks.
He believes that true transformation will come from reconstructing the systems supporting assets, rather than just tokenization.
Harris also pointed out that now is the best time to focus on real-world assets, as many large banks are increasing investments in blockchain infrastructure, expecting faster settlement systems and tokenized assets to reshape global finance.
