These days I'm again struggling: if the mainnet gas fee gets too high, I want to run to L2, but I'm also worried about messing up the bridge step if I move all my funds there... My current compromise is to do daily interactions mostly on L2, and keep the "possibly large/long-term holdings" on the mainnet, so I don't lose sleep over saving a few bucks.
Every time I cross-chain, I first check the contract address and fund path, anyway I'd rather be slow.
By the way, I saw the chat group discussing the extreme wave of funding rate fluctuations, whether it will reverse or continue to bubble, I can't guess either. When the rate gets ridiculous, I definitely don't want to chase around on the mainnet last minute, with gas and emotional stress both piling up.
Forget it, to put it plainly: if you can do it on a cheaper chain, don't force yourself onto the mainnet. If you really need to go on, pick a non-urgent time, split it into several transactions, and save yourself some trouble.
