Bitcoin miner Core Scientific repurposes 300 MW for 1.5 GW Texas AI campus

Bitcoin miner Core Scientific said it plans to turn its Pecos, Texas, site into an AI-focused data center campus with up to 1.5 gigawatts of gross power capacity. About 1 gigawatt is expected to be available for leasing, and about 300 megawatts now used for Bitcoin mining is being repurposed for data center operations. The first data hall has finished foundational work and is moving into vertical construction, with initial capacity expected in early 2027.
