Just found out oranges are actually safe for dogs and got curious so I looked into it. Turns out a dog can have oranges but only in tiny amounts—like 1-3 slices max per day. They've got tons of vitamin C and fiber which is decent for their immune system and digestion, but honestly most dog foods already have everything they need so it's more of a occasional treat thing.
The catch is you gotta peel them first and definitely remove any seeds because apparently there's some harmful stuff in there. Also heard that dogs with diabetes should skip oranges completely because of the sugar content. And yeah, don't give them canned oranges or juice with added sugar—fresh is way better if you're gonna do it at all.
I was thinking about giving my pup some orange slices next time it's hot outside since they're like 90% water, but I'm gonna ask the vet first just to be safe. Anyone else feed their dogs oranges or stick to regular treats?
