Just realized the stock market is closed on Juneteenth (June 19th) every year now. That's actually pretty interesting - it became a federal holiday back in 2021, so NYSE, Nasdaq, all the major exchanges shut down for the day. Makes sense when you think about it - commemorating when enslaved people in Texas finally got the news they were free in 1865.

So if you're wondering is the market closed on Juneteenth, yeah it is. Bonds too. Basically everything trading-related takes the day off. The market reopens the next morning like normal. I didn't even realize this was a thing until I checked my calendar for trading days.

Lots of people use it to actually learn about the holiday's history or participate in community events. The Juneteenth Foundation does festivals, there's virtual performances, museum exhibitions... way more meaningful than just sitting around waiting for markets to reopen, honestly. Kinda nice that traders and investors get a day to step back from the charts and reflect on something important.
