So I was wondering if we can give orange to dogs, and turns out the answer is yes but there's a catch. Just found out oranges are actually packed with stuff dogs need—vitamin C, fiber, potassium, all that good stuff. My vet mentioned they're safe in small amounts, so I've been testing it with my pup.
Here's the thing though—and this matters—you can't just hand them a whole orange. One to three slices max, and make sure you peel it first because the peel has toxins that mess with their digestion. I learned that the hard way when I almost gave my dog the whole thing lol.
The fiber is supposedly good for their digestion, and since oranges are like 90% water, they're refreshing on hot days. But don't overdo it or they'll get an upset stomach. Also if your dog is diabetic, skip it entirely—too much sugar.
Anyone else give their dog oranges? I'm curious if we can give orange to dogs regularly or if it should really just be an occasional treat. My dog seems to enjoy the hydration part at least.
