Just realized I might have some money sitting in my wallet worth way more than face value. Been reading about rare bills and apparently star notes are actually a thing collectors go crazy for. Like, there's this 1995 $2 star note that can be worth up to $500 if it's uncirculated - how much is a star note worth exactly depends on the year and condition, but some are genuinely valuable. Found out the 1928 series $2 bills with red seals can fetch anywhere from $4 to $175 in circulation, and if you get an uncirculated one? Could be $20,000+. The older the bill the better usually. There's also these $50 and $100 bills from specific years that dealers will actually pay real money for. Like the 1934 $50 bills go for $65-$75 in crisp condition, and certain $100 star notes from 1996 can be worth $150-$350. Even some 2009A series $100 bills with unique serial numbers are hitting over $1,000. Obviously most bills are just worth face value, but apparently it's worth checking your wallet for anything with a star on the serial number or older series dates. Condition matters a lot though - circulated vs uncirculated makes a huge difference in price. Anyone else ever find something valuable just sitting in their cash?
