Tencent Quietly Releases Hy3 Preview: First Flagship Model Under Yao Shunyu's Leadership
According to monitoring by Dongcha Beating, Tencent has released the latest flagship model in the Hunyuan series, the Hy3 preview, which utilizes a MoE (Mixture of Experts) architecture with a total of 295 billion parameters and 21 billion active parameters. The model is now available on the OpenRouter API and HuggingFace demo, but the open-source weights have not yet been released. This is the first flagship model led by Yao Shunyu, a former OpenAI researcher and Tencent’s Chief AI Scientist, since his joining, and it is the output from Tencent’s reconstruction of its foundational model R&D system less than three months ago in February of this year. Tencent positions the model as being on par with top domestic models, but acknowledges that there is still a gap compared to leading models from OpenAI and Google DeepMind. The model focuses on agent capabilities and has been optimized for mainstream agent tools like OpenClaw, supporting a context window of 262.1K and a three-tier reasoning mode. It has already been deployed in Tencent products such as Yuanbao and CodeBuddy.
