Just realized there's a whole category of apps that literally pay you for walking and I'm kind of mad I didn't know about this sooner. Like, you're already going for walks anyway, right? Why not make some cash or at least get gift cards out of it.
So there are legit apps that pay for walking - some give you coins or points you can turn into Amazon gift cards, Starbucks credits, that kind of thing. Evidation tracks your steps and lets you earn up to 80 points daily, then converts them to actual rewards once you hit 10,000 points. Pretty straightforward. Charity Miles is interesting if you care about giving back - your steps become donations to charities you pick. HealthyWage and StepBet are more competitive if you're into that - you basically bet on yourself to hit fitness goals and win money if you succeed.
Then there's Sweatcoin, which is free and just converts your steps into coins you can redeem. Paidtogo claims you can earn up to 10 cents per mile, which sounds decent. Even apps like Paceline reward you with discounts and Amazon cards for hitting 150 active minutes weekly.
Honestly, none of these will make you rich - the payouts are pretty modest. But if you need that extra motivation to actually get outside and move instead of doom-scrolling, having an app that pays you for walking is kind of genius. The money's just a bonus when you think about it that way.
