If negotiations with Iran remain deadlocked, the U.S. may consider targeting Iran's critical infrastructure to force it back to the negotiating table. Trump emphasized that the U.S. will continue to impose a maritime blockade on Iran until Tehran agrees to a deal that alleviates American concerns over its nuclear program. He rejected Iran's proposal to "lift the blockade first, restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and then postpone nuclear negotiations," believing that the blockade is currently the most effective pressure tactic, and stated that Iran is under immense pressure due to its inability to export oil.
