Just been looking at some interesting opportunities in the cheapest stock category, and there's actually some solid stuff trading under $10 if you know where to look. Most people sleep on these because they think anything cheap is automatically risky, but that's not really fair if you're selective about it.
So here's the thing - the energy sector is having a moment right now, especially anything tied to AI infrastructure. Data centers are consuming electricity like crazy, and the grid needs serious upgrades. That's creating real demand for energy storage solutions, which is where companies like Microvast come in.
MVST is trading around $4.50 a share, making it one of the cheapest stock plays in the battery space. The company designs and manufactures lithium-ion battery solutions, which is exactly what you need when you're trying to balance solar energy with consistent power supply. They've got exposure to multiple growth trends - solar expansion, utility-scale battery storage, and the EV revolution all at once.
What caught my attention was the earnings story. They absolutely crushed Q2, which pushed their 2025 earnings estimates up 46%. That's the kind of positive revision you want to see. All three brokers covering MVST have it rated as a Strong Buy, and it's got a Zacks Rank 1, which doesn't happen often.
The numbers are honestly pretty impressive for a cheapest stock in this space. Revenue is projected to grow 22% this year and next, hitting $563.5 million. But the real story is the bottom line - they went from losing money to projecting $0.19 EPS in 2025, then another 53% growth in 2026. That's the kind of trajectory that matters.
There's also the technical setup. MVST has run hard lately but is still trading 20% below where analysts think it should be and way below its 2021 highs. If it breaks above some key resistance levels, could be looking at a meaningful move.
Obviously, cheaper stocks come with more volatility and risk than your blue-chip names, but when you've got improving fundamentals, analyst support, and exposure to secular trends like AI and clean energy, it's worth paying attention. MVST is one of those rare cheapest stock opportunities where the story actually checks out.
