Cartier heir sentenced to 8 years for laundering $470M through crypto OTC desk

A U.S. court sentenced Maximilien de Hoop Cartier to eight years in prison after more than $470 million in drug proceeds was moved through a crypto-linked OTC business. Cartier pleaded guilty to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. Cartier also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and the court ordered about $2.36 million forfeited.
