Just looked at some political finance data and found something interesting. Senator Shelley Moore Capito took a pretty significant hit last month, dropping about 125K in stock market losses according to Quiver Quantitative's tracking. Her overall net worth sits around 4.4M as of mid-April, which puts her at 143rd among Congress members by wealth.

What's kind of wild is looking back at her trading history. She had a purchase of up to 250K in UBSI stock back in March 2021 that's down about 14% since then. Meanwhile, some of her older moves actually worked out - she sold Berkshire Hathaway B shares for 50K back in 2018 and that's up 163% since. Microsoft was another sale that's gained 10.8% after she offloaded it in 2023.

The recent FEC filing shows Shelley Moore Capito brought in around 423.7K in Q1 fundraising, with about 28% coming from individual donors. She's sitting on roughly 2.7M in cash on hand, which ranks 87th among all politicians filing this year. Definitely one of those rabbit holes you fall down when you start digging into congressional financial disclosures.
