Just realized how much you can actually save on business class if you know what you're doing. Been flying economy forever but started looking into this after someone mentioned you can sometimes get upgrades for barely more than economy prices.
The trick is using Google Flights or Skyscanner to set up price alerts - they'll email you if there's a crazy deal. I've heard stories of people finding business class tickets for a few hundred bucks when they normally go for like 16k. Honestly sounds wild but apparently it happens if you're watching.
Flexibility is huge though. If you can move your dates around, the savings get way better. Also the off-peak times tend to have more empty seats which means better odds of getting that upgrade at the gate. Just being friendly to the agent actually works sometimes, especially if you mention it's a special trip.
Another thing I didn't know - if you have airline miles or credit card points stacked up, you can sometimes use those to upgrade or even book business class for basically free. And if you're flying overbooked routes, volunteering to give up your seat can sometimes get you bumped up to business plus compensation.
Travel agents apparently have connections that can help too if you want someone else handling it. The point is you don't have to just accept economy - there's definitely ways to fly business class without dropping insane money if you're willing to put in a bit of effort.
