Been noticing gas prices are still pretty high compared to last year, even with the recent dip. If you're trying to find the cheapest gas like I am, there are actually some solid tools that make it way easier than just guessing.
GasBuddy's probably the easiest - their app shows prices at stations near you so you can compare before pulling up. Google Maps does this too if you just search for gas stations. Waze is another option that helps you locate cheap gas options while you're already navigating somewhere.
But here's the thing - don't waste gas driving around hunting for deals. That defeats the purpose. I learned that the hard way.
Some practical stuff that actually works: if you hit up Costco or Sam's Club, their gas is noticeably cheaper if you're a member. Gas rewards programs at stations give you a few cents off per gallon too, which adds up. And honestly, the best tip is just planning your errands better - group them together and you'll use way less gas overall.
Also if you're paying for gas with a regular card, switching to a gas rewards credit card could save you decent cash back. Just research the best options before you commit to one.
