I just saw the news about what happened in Iran on March 1. It seems there is some confusion in the initial reports, but according to CCTV News, the Supreme Leader Jamenei was attacked. The truth is, Iran’s political history is quite complex.

Jamenei was born in 1939 in Mashhad and has been the Supreme Leader since 1989. Before that, he served as the country’s president from 1981 to 1989. What’s interesting is that he had already suffered a targeted attack in June 1981, which left him with paralysis in his right arm, so the region has experienced quite a bit of political instability over the years.

This kind of event always has significant global implications, especially given Iran’s geopolitical importance in the Middle East. It’s one of those moments that we’ll probably see reflected in the markets and international dynamics in the coming days.
