I just saw that X is launching a new feature to protect accounts. Apparently, now the platform automatically blocks the first posts where people mention crypto. It sounds strange, but there is logic — hackers often hack regular accounts and immediately start promoting certain tokens or fake giveaways.

Basically, this is an attempt to make hijacked accounts less useful for scammers. Until the user passes verification, the first post about cryptocurrency simply won't go through. Interestingly, the head of product at X noted that even phishing emails often bypass email filters. People click on links, enter data on fake sites, and that’s it — the account is compromised.

Previously, there was a wave of scams involving impersonation of well-known personalities, fake airdrops, and money doubling schemes. So X has clearly decided to take the problem seriously. In addition, they have already removed bots, tightened API controls. Now, this automatic blocking.

Honestly, though, this could cause problems for regular users who want to write about cryptocurrencies for the first time. But overall, I understand the logic — protecting against scammers is a priority. As crypto grows on platforms, pressure is increasing, and they need to fend off increasingly sophisticated attacks.
