The AI company behind the “996” craze actually clocks out every day at 6 PM.

DeepSeek V4 was released today, and in the 58-page technical report, the most surprising thing isn’t the performance data—it’s the time they leave work—6 PM in the evening.
Liang Wenfeng’s exact words: “A person can only do 6–8 hours of high-density mental work in a day. Overtime is a waste of brainpower and computing power.”
With fewer than 200 people, a two-layer organization, no KPIs, and no clock-ins. Compared with ByteDance’s Seed with nearly 1,500 people and DeepMind with 5,000–7,000 people. The result: V4-Pro’s Chinese tasks surpass Google and Claude.
While everyone else is trying to win with a headcount battle, they’re competing on organizational efficiency.
Which domestic AI company do you think can replicate this model?
