I just realized in the past couple of days that hardware wallets are out of stock again… I was still wondering why everyone in the group suddenly started borrowing devices from each other. The phishing links are also ridiculously numerous, basically taking advantage of everyone's anxiety—click once and it's gone, pretty annoying.
As for how to choose between hardware wallets/multisig/social recovery, my feeling is don’t go all-in right away and end up unable to access your own assets: if your assets aren’t large yet and you just want to reduce the risk of “accidentally losing everything with a quick transfer,” a hardware wallet is enough; if your funds are starting to diversify and you need to manage them with family or partners, or if you’re worried about slipping up and losing your seed phrase, multisig is like splitting the keys into different pockets, but it’s really troublesome; social recovery feels more like “trusting a few people,” suitable if your friends or family are reliable and communication costs are low, otherwise, when you actually need to recover, it might be more awkward than trying to get back with an ex… Anyway, I’m currently using small hot wallets for daily use, slowly moving larger assets to more “dumb” solutions, preferring to take it slow.
