Former PayPal CEO launches Bitcoin-powered global merchant payment platform

CryptoWorld News reports that former PayPal CEO David Marcus announced the launch of a global account API called Grid, aimed at facilitating cross-border remittances of Bitcoin and fiat currency. The API allows users to delegate payments and purchases to AI agents while maintaining ultimate control over their wallets. Grid’s mission is to promote global remittances of Bitcoin, stablecoins, and US dollars through AI support. The product partners with Visa to enable instant payments to 175 million merchants, covering over 14,000 banks and 65 countries. Users can set AI instructions, including spending limits and approved recipients, to ensure transaction security. Additionally, Block (formerly Square) is also promoting Bitcoin remittances, with Block’s digital asset policy head stating that any use of Bitcoin as currency should be regarded as a monetary transaction.
