$283M Navy deal lets HII start building for a new U.S. frigate class

HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding has secured a $283 million Navy contract for lead yard support for the new FF(X) frigate class. This contract allows Ingalls to procure long-lead materials, perform design work, and begin pre-construction activities for the first ship, leveraging the proven Legend-class National Security Cutter design. Ingalls has invested over $1 billion in modernization to support this and other shipbuilding programs, with the new frigates being built alongside existing production lines.
