Lately, there have been people constantly watching large on-chain transfers and hot/cold wallets on exchanges, saying "smart money is coming" whenever there's movement... I, for one, don't get excited yet; I want to see the settlement and costs first. For someone like me with small funds, the experience on the mainnet is basically: fast is fast, but a single gas fee can support me on L2 for a whole day, so I really can't bring myself to do it.

My current compromise is: use L2 for daily interactions, try to batch cross-chain transfers, and avoid doing them one by one; when I do go on the mainnet, I only do two things: highly certain transactions (like large withdrawals or important contract interactions), and situations where the window is very narrow and must be settled immediately. Don’t believe the stories—first, calculate the slippage and gas costs, or else all the profits will be eaten up by miners/ordering services... Let’s see.
