CryptoWorld News: The Over Protocol Foundation has announced that, due to financial difficulties, it will permanently stop all operations of Over Protocol and immediately shut down all infrastructure and services, including Overwallet, Overnode, Overflex, RPC nodes, and a block explorer, with no recovery plan. Block production will depend entirely on whether independent validators continue running the open-source client software, and this outcome cannot be guaranteed. This announcement presents a major test to the blockchain’s decentralization claims. Layer 1 networks typically require strong infrastructure to maintain accessibility, and the lack of infrastructure supported by the Foundation will pose major obstacles to the protocol’s ongoing operations. The Foundation emphasizes that Over Protocol’s original intention is to enable ordinary users to participate in building network infrastructure, as distinct from blockchains led by institutional validators. The team thanks the community for its support and regrets that it cannot continue to advance the project’s vision. This shutdown adds to the list of blockchain projects that halt operations during the crypto market consolidation phase, and financial sustainability remains a challenge for emerging Layer 1 protocols.
