CryptoWorld News reports that Lightspark CEO David Marcus announced the launch of the Grid global account at the 2026 Bitcoin Conference, aiming to address the fragmentation of the global payment system. The account is a USD account usable worldwide, benefiting from a new partnership with Visa, expanding spending capabilities across multiple countries. Marcus pointed out that the global payment system processes 10B transactions daily but lacks a universal payment layer, with cross-border payments facing delays and high fees. He emphasized that changes in the regulatory environment are leading major markets’ governments to gradually adopt specific digital asset and cross-border payment frameworks. Lightspark has built Spark on top of Bitcoin as a neutral global settlement layer, supporting value transfers between compliant payment endpoints. The Grid global account will support USD and Bitcoin, allowing users to route between multiple payment channels based on transaction needs, and will offer branded USD accounts, Visa debit cards, instant Bitcoin conversion, and AI-driven account management.
