China fines CapCut for not labeling AI-generated content

On April 28, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) stated that the “Jianying” and “Maoxiang” apps, as well as the “Jimeng AI” website, were found not to fully comply with regulations on labeling content generated and aggregated by AI.

The CAC has requested that local regulatory authorities take measures against relevant platforms, including communicating with them, requiring rectification, issuing warnings, and strictly punishing persons responsible.

According to the CAC, platforms must strictly comply with labeling requirements for content generated and aggregated by AI. The agency also said it will continue to strengthen supervision to protect public interests and promote the development of AI in accordance with regulations.
