Thomas Allen's Inner Monologue


Before April 21, I legally acquired weapons (shotgun, pistol, knives).
On April 21, I took the weapons and traveled by train from the Los Angeles area, first to Chicago, then transferred to Washington, D.C.
Because I declared and checked the weapons in advance, I was not subjected to any security checks during the process.
On April 24, after arriving in Washington, I checked into the Washington Hilton Hotel.
The hotel did not screen guests in advance, and my luggage was not inspected.
On the evening of April 25, at the security checkpoint on the hotel terrace leading to the underground banquet hall, I was stopped and subdued.
If only I had been a bit smarter, I would have succeeded...
